To get an idea of what to expect from CONSENSUSCON 2014, imagine a reality where Mark Zuckerberg went to art school. Imagine a young Zuck going to noise shows in basements, doing all sorts of weird drugs, and learning about Marxism and Samuel Beckett and Baudrillard. Imagine him voting for Obama (once enthusiastically, and once reluctantly) and marching with Occupy. Imagine if, instead of worshiping Steve Jobs and Ayn Rand, Silicon Valley idolized Duchamp and Andy Kaufman. Imagine if Facebook was just some large-scale dadaist performance, culminating in a simultaneous worldwide ALS ice bucket challenge. In that reality, instead of TED talks, you'd have CONSENSUSCON.

Consensus began as just an idea-- an idea for a kickstarter campaign:

...and quickly turned into a cultural phenomenon.

"Common sense suggests that you can't 'crowd-source' the tasks involved in writing a novel without severely compromising the overall quality of the result.

Or can you?

No, you can't. But new media artist Chris Collins will give it a go." -Michael Gutierrez
